01. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing and using this website (moneypolitics.africa), completing a registration for the Convening, or attending any related event, you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions in full. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, you must not use this website or register for the Convening.

These Terms & Conditions apply to all visitors, registrants, participants, speakers, media representatives, and any other person who accesses this website or attends the Convening.

02. The Convening

The Convening on The Financialization of Politics in Africa: Advancing Reform, Accountability and Democratic Integrity is a multi-stakeholder event scheduled to take place from 14–16 July 2026 in Accra, Ghana.

It is jointly organised by the African Union Advisory Board on Corruption (AUABC), the Centre for Democratic Development – Ghana (CDD-G), Open Society Foundations (OSF), Transparency International, and the Community of Practice on Political Finance in Africa (COP), together with the event secretariat at moneypolitics.africa.

The Convening is a civil society, governance, and policy-focused event. It is not a commercial event, and no representation is made regarding commercial or financial benefit to participants.

03. Registration

Registration for the Convening is subject to the following conditions:

• All registrations must be completed through the official registration process on this website or as directed by the Secretariat.
• Registration is not confirmed until you receive a formal confirmation from the Secretariat.
• The organisers reserve the right to limit attendance or to decline a registration at their discretion, without obligation to provide a reason.
• You are responsible for the accuracy of all information submitted during registration. The organisers accept no liability for errors or omissions in registrations.
• The registration deadline is 19 June 2026. Late registrations may be accommodated subject to capacity and at the organisers’ discretion.
• Registering for the Convening does not guarantee participation in any specific session, panel, or activity within the programme, which may be subject to separate selection or capacity constraints.

04. Cancellation & Substitution

Cancellations by participants: If you are unable to attend after confirming your registration, please notify the Secretariat at info@dev.moneypolitics.africa as soon as possible so that any allocated place may be offered to another applicant.

Substitutions: Registered participants may nominate a substitute from their organisation or institution, subject to advance notification and approval by the Secretariat.

Cancellation by the organisers: In the event that the Convening is cancelled, postponed, or significantly altered due to circumstances beyond the organisers’ reasonable control (see Section 11 — Force Majeure), registered participants will be notified as promptly as practicable. The organisers’ liability in such circumstances will be limited to a reasonable effort to communicate changes; no financial compensation will be owed by the organising partnership.

05. Code of Conduct

The Convening is committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment for all participants regardless of gender, age, ethnicity, nationality, religion, disability, sexual orientation, or professional background.

By attending, all participants agree to:

• Treat all other participants, staff, speakers, and venue personnel with dignity and respect.
• Refrain from any form of harassment, discrimination, intimidation, or disruptive behaviour.
• Engage in good faith with diverse perspectives and across political, sectoral, and national divides.
• Respect the confidential nature of conversations held under Chatham House Rule, where specified.
• Comply with all lawful directions of the event organisers and venue management.

The organisers reserve the right to remove, without refund or compensation, any participant who violates this Code of Conduct or whose behaviour is deemed by the organisers to be disruptive, harmful, or contrary to the values of the Convening. In serious cases, organisers may refer the matter to relevant authorities.

06. Photography & Recording

The Convening will be documented for reporting, archival, and public communication purposes. By attending, you acknowledge and agree that:

• Photographs and video recordings may be taken at the event, including in plenary sessions, networking settings, and public spaces within the venue.
• Such materials may be used in publications, websites, social media, reports, and presentations produced by the organising partners.
• If you do not wish to appear in photographs or recordings, please notify the Secretariat at registration or at the event check-in desk, and reasonable efforts will be made to accommodate this request.

Participants who wish to record sessions must seek prior approval from the Secretariat and must comply with any restrictions in place for individual sessions, including Chatham House Rule sessions where no attribution or recording is permitted.

07. Media & Communications

Media accreditation, if offered, is subject to separate terms communicated directly to media representatives. Accredited media agree to:

• Accurately represent the positions and statements of participants and organisers.
• Respect session-level disclosure rules, including Chatham House Rule where applied.
• Not misrepresent the Convening, its outcomes, or its organisers in published materials.

Where social media is used in connection with the Convening, participants are asked to use designated event hashtags and to ensure their communications accurately represent session discussions.

The organisers reserve the right to issue corrections or take appropriate action in response to inaccurate or misleading reporting about the Convening.

08. Intellectual Property

Website content: All content on this website — including text, graphics, logos, photographs, programme materials, and design — is the property of the organising partnership or its licensors and is protected by applicable copyright and intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, or use this content for commercial purposes without prior written permission.

Event presentations and papers: Intellectual property in presentations, papers, and other contributions made by speakers or participants at the Convening remains with the respective authors or their institutions, unless otherwise agreed in writing. By presenting at the Convening, contributors grant the organising partnership a non-exclusive licence to reproduce and share the presentation in event publications, reports, and archives.

Declarations and outcomes documents: Documents adopted collectively at the Convening (such as the Accra Declaration on Political Finance Transparency and Democratic Integrity) may be treated as public documents and shared freely for advocacy and policy purposes.

09. Website Use

You may use this website for lawful purposes only. You agree not to:

• Use the website in any way that violates applicable local, national, or international law.
• Transmit unsolicited communications, malicious code, or any material that is harmful, offensive, or disruptive.
• Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the website or its underlying systems.
• Reproduce or scrape the website’s content at scale without written permission.

This website may contain links to third-party websites for convenience. The organisers are not responsible for the content, privacy practices, or availability of those external sites.

The website is provided on an ‘as is’ basis. While we make reasonable efforts to ensure accuracy and availability, we do not warrant that the website will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free from viruses or other harmful components.

10. Disclaimer of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the organising partnership — including all partner organisations, their staff, officers, agents, and representatives — shall not be liable for:

• Any loss, injury, or damage suffered by participants at the Convening venue or in transit.
• Loss or damage to personal property at or in connection with the event.
• Any indirect, consequential, or incidental losses arising from use of this website.
• Travel, accommodation, or related costs incurred by participants in connection with the Convening.
• Any financial, reputational, or other losses arising from changes to the programme, scheduling, or format of the Convening.

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Participants attend the Convening and use this website at their own risk.

11. Force Majeure

The organising partnership shall not be liable for any failure or delay in performing its obligations in connection with the Convening where such failure or delay results from circumstances beyond its reasonable control, including but not limited to:

• Natural disasters, severe weather, or pandemic or epidemic health emergencies
• Political unrest, civil disturbance, or acts of war or terrorism
• Government travel advisories, border closures, or venue unavailability
• Failure of third-party infrastructure (transport, utilities, or telecommunications)

In such circumstances, the organisers will make reasonable efforts to reschedule, adapt, or provide alternative programming formats, and will communicate with registered participants as promptly as practicable.

12. Health, Safety & Travel

Participants are responsible for:

• Ensuring they meet all entry requirements for Ghana, including visa requirements and a valid Yellow Fever vaccination certificate where applicable.
• Making their own travel and accommodation arrangements and bearing the associated costs (unless the Secretariat has indicated otherwise in writing).
• Ensuring they carry adequate travel and health insurance for the duration of their travel and attendance.
• Complying with all applicable public health guidelines in effect at the time of the event.

The organisers will provide general travel guidance through the website’s Travel Hub but accept no responsibility for individual travel decisions, delays, or complications.

13. Governing Law

These Terms & Conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Ghana, as the host country of the Convening, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer or data protection rights that may apply in the participant’s country of residence.

Any disputes arising in connection with these terms, the website, or the Convening that cannot be resolved amicably between the parties shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the competent courts of Ghana, unless otherwise required by applicable law.
