This Privacy Policy describes how the organising partnership behind the Convening on The Financialization of Politics in Africa (referred to as “the Convening,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, stores, and shares personal information when you visit moneypolitics.africa, register to attend the Convening, or otherwise interact with us.

For purposes of data protection law, the organising partners act as joint data controllers in respect of personal data collected through this website and the event registration process.

The Convening is an international initiative. Participants are drawn from across Africa and beyond, and organising partners are headquartered in multiple jurisdictions. As a result, your personal information may be transferred to, stored in, or processed in countries other than your own.

Where personal data is transferred internationally, we will ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, including standard contractual clauses, adequacy decisions where applicable, or other legally recognised transfer mechanisms. Transfers involving EU/EEA residents will be managed in compliance with GDPR Chapter V requirements.

08. Data Retention

We retain personal information only for as long as necessary for the purposes described in this policy:

• Registration data is retained for a minimum of one year after the Convening concludes, for post-event reporting and follow-up communications.
• Data included in published reports, declarations, or publicly archived documentation may be retained indefinitely as part of the public record on political finance reform in Africa.

• Correspondence is retained for up to three years.

After the applicable retention period, data is securely deleted or anonymised.
